More Broward County families are running short on food, and Harvest Drive is getting more requests for help than it used to. The City of Weston has an easy way for neighbors to pitch in, and you do not have to plan around office hours.
There is a collection bin outside the front doors of Weston City Hall at 17200 Royal Palm Boulevard. It sits in a covered spot and it is available 24 hours a day, all year. Drop off what you can and the city gets it to Harvest Drive for you.
What they need most
Harvest Drive says these non perishables move fastest, both for families in homes and for people who are unhoused:
- Cereal
- Mac and cheese
- Granola bars
- Chef Boyardee, pull tab tops preferred
- Canned soup, pull tab tops preferred
Two other ways to help
Bring your BOGOs. Next time your supermarket runs a buy one, get one deal, drop the free one in the bin.
Clean out the linen closet. Sheets, blankets and towels are needed all the time, and they are easy to forget about.
