Every business operating in Weston, including home-based businesses, must have a current City of Weston Local Business Tax Receipt.
The annual renewal period begins July 1. Renewal payments for the upcoming year must be received by September 30, 2026. Penalties will be added to unpaid balances beginning October 1, so business owners are encouraged to renew early.
WHY IS A BUSINESS TAX RECEIPT REQUIRED?
A Local Business Tax Receipt creates an official record of businesses operating within the City. The application and renewal process also helps the City confirm that businesses have met applicable requirements.
Depending on the business and its location, these requirements may include a Certificate of Use, zoning approval, fire inspections, and professional licenses issued by the State of Florida. Together, these safeguards help protect customers, employees, neighboring businesses, and the community.
A Local Business Tax Receipt confirms payment of the required business tax. It does not replace any professional license, permit, inspection, or other approval required by law.
