Labor Day weekend runs Friday through Monday, and there is plenty within a short drive of Weston. Here are three worth putting on the calendar.
Village Art Bites: Food Trucks
Friday, Sept. 4, 5 to 9 p.m.
Village Art Plaza, 2260 NW 68th Ave., Sunrise
A free food truck night on the plaza with live music on the stage, plus complimentary bites and drinks. The trucks rotate each month, so it is a different lineup every time.
Great Butterfly Migration Weekend
Saturday, Sept. 5 through Monday, Sept. 7, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Road, Davie
The final weekend of the Amazing Butterflies maze. Kids can go through the “become a caterpillar” activities, and anyone who shows up in a butterfly costume can join the Butterfly Parade. It runs all three days, Labor Day included.
Annual King of the Hill 5K
Sunday, Sept. 6, 6:30 to 10 a.m.
Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142nd Ave., Davie (meet at Shelters 1 and 2)
Run or walk up the highest hill in Broward County. It is a long-running local race that is open to every level, and the bragging rights last all year.
