The City of Weston came home from the Florida Festivals and Events Association convention with four statewide awards, and three of them went to things Weston families already know well: the parks guide, Earth Day and the Hometown 5K.
The 2026 SUNsational Awards were handed out at the association’s 32nd annual convention and expo. The program honors creative work behind festivals, events and community programs across Florida. More than 200 events entered this year in categories that ranged from printed materials and photography to promotional items and multimedia marketing.
What Weston won
Weston@Play Parks and Recreation Guide, first place for Brochure. The Winter and Spring 2026 edition took the top spot. The guide is put together by the city’s Communications and Parks and Recreation departments and lists the programs, activities and special events happening around town.
Earth Day, the Weston Way, second place for Photo Op. The city’s yearly Earth Day event is a family celebration built around conservation and simple ways to care for the planet.
Hometown 5K Run/Walk, third place for Photo. A shot from the race, which kicks off Weston’s Fourth of July festivities, placed third.
Hometown 5K Run/Walk, third place for Promotional Item. The custom finisher medal made for the race also took third.
Judged by the pros
Nominations were reviewed by a panel from media outlets, printing companies, website design, photography, promotional marketing and social media.
“The SUNsational Awards have recognized and celebrated the incredible work of our members for more than three decades,” said Suzanne Neve, CEO of the Florida Festivals and Events Association. “Each year, we’re inspired by the creativity, passion, and innovation happening in communities across Florida. These awards celebrate the people and organizations that continue to raise the bar, creating experiences that bring communities together and leave a lasting impact.”
The association is a nonprofit that supports more than 5,500 festivals, events and fairs around the state.
