Saturday, August 1, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Flamingo Gardens, Davie. The whole community is invited to help James, one of the sanctuary’s animal residents, celebrate his 8th birthday. Included with regular garden admission.
Back to School Splash
Saturday, August 1, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunrise Athletic Complex, 11501 NW 44th St., Sunrise. The City of Sunrise throws its big end-of-summer party with snacks and kids’ activities. The first 1,000 Sunrise K-12 students take home a free book and school supplies. Free.
Sunday Jazz Brunch on the Riverwalk
Sunday, August 2, starting at 11:00 a.m. Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd St., Fort Lauderdale. Free live jazz on three stages along the Riverwalk. Bring blankets, picnic baskets and even leashed pets.
