Two Weston high schools landed on a national list this year, and both earned it the hard way.
Cypress Bay High School and Western High School are among 16 Broward County Public Schools named in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026/27 Best High Schools rankings. Cypress Bay placed in the top 5 percent of ranked schools in the country. Western earned a spot among the nation’s top-ranked public high schools as well.
How the list works
The rankings look at nearly 27,000 public high schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. About 18,000 of them get ranked on college readiness, how broad the college-level coursework is, state assessment scores and graduation rates.
Cypress Bay came in 55th in Florida and 810th nationally, which puts it in the top 4.51 percent of ranked schools. Western came in 209th in Florida and 3,303rd nationally, in the top 18.41 percent.
What the district said
“We’re proud to have our schools ranked among the best in the country. This achievement is something our entire community can celebrate,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “These rankings reflect the dedication of our students, the passion of our educators and the support of our families.”
