Weston has landed a $250,000 state grant to help replace the roof on City Hall, and the timing could not be better as hurricane season ramps up.
The money comes from the Florida Division of Emergency Management and its 2026 to 2027 Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program. Weston received the largest award the program offers. The grant covers about 63 percent of the project cost, which means less of the bill falls on local taxpayers.
The program was created after Hurricane Andrew to help Florida communities make their buildings stronger and safer before the next big storm. A sturdy roof on City Hall helps protect an important public building that the city relies on during and after severe weather.
For Weston residents, the grant is a simple win. It strengthens a key building, saves local dollars, and reflects the kind of planning that keeps a community ready when the weather turns.
