PETE PECCI

Who doesn’t love a delicious crispy turnover, of the apple or berry kind? Summer is the time when The Rotary Club of Weston enjoys its own “turnover.” This happened at the installation of our new slate of officers on Friday, June 19th at The Club at Weston Hills.

The new board will have Jesus Sanchez serve as President during the 2026-2027 year. Pete Pecci will be President-elect and Sam Turpin will fill the position of President-elect nominee. We are so lucky to have, for the next several years, Rotarians serving as President with a wealth of experience at the helm.

Jesus Sanchez, Jay, served as President of The Rotary Club of Weston in the 2020-2021 term. He feels that the coming year may be more complex. This is due to the greater number of charities for whom the club has decided to provide service. In addition to that, two different satellite groups have emerged, one that conducts its meetings in Spanish and is open to all members. The other satellite group came about to serve our members who find the evening meeting time more in line with their busy schedules. Jay also feels that the current financial situation today may make it more difficult to recruit sponsors for our fundraising events. That just means our Rotarians will work a little harder. The club has approximately 140 members and Jay thinks that the success of the club can be measured in the enjoyment of each of these members as they participate in all of its many activities.

President-elect, Pete Pecci isn’t nervous about his future term in office. After all “this isn’t his first rodeo…” uh Rotary position. Pete served as president of The Rotary Club of Weston in 2021-2022. In addition he was the Governor of District 6990 last year and will continue through June of 2027 when he will once more take up the reins as The Rotary Club of Weston President.

We can’t wait to see what President-elect nominee Sam Turpin does to fill his term in 2028-2029. After joining the club 3 years ago, he has been there working hard at a tremendous variety of meetings, committees, and projects. His face has become a constant in all the photos of Rotarians giving service with a smile. We hope he and his Fire Truck will return to everyone’s delight in the years to come.

With these three Rotarians at the helm, we can be assured that the Turnovers of the Rotary Club of Weston will have Success “baked in.”
