Beat the Heat in Weston: A Guide to Staying Cool this Summer

  • July 2026
  • Weston Together

South Florida in July doesn’t ask permission. By 10 a.m., the heat index is climbing, the humidity is doing its thing, and anyone without a plan for the day is already regretting it. The good news: Weston has no shortage of ways to stay cool, stay active, and actually enjoy summer.’

GET OUTDOORS, BUT STRATEGICALLY

Weston’s park system spans over 245 acres, and while outdoor activity in July takes a little more planning, the city’s parks offer plenty of shade, water views, and breezy options for early mornings and evenings.

Peace Mound Park on Three Village Road is one of the more peaceful options. The lighted walkway, a fishing dock, shaded shelters, and water views make it an easy choice before the afternoon heat kicks in. Eagle Point Park on North Lake Boulevard offers beach tennis and sand volleyball alongside water views and shaded playgrounds. Emerald Estates Park on Emerald Estates Drive adds lighted tennis courts, fitness stations, and a shaded playground to the mix, with a lakeside setting that catches the breeze.

For families with active kids, Tequesta Trace Park on Indian Trace has a shaded playground, a skate park, and multi-use turf fields. Indian Trace Park on Saddle Club Road offers pickleball, basketball, baseball, and fitness stations, all in one stop. And Weston Regional Park remains the city’s hub for serious play, with multi-sport facilities, an exercise path, pickleball, and even EV charging stations if you need a recharge yourself.

One note to keep in mind: Windmill Ranch Park is currently closed through June 2026 for construction improvements, so plan around that one for now. Check the city’s website for updates

Early mornings and post-5 p.m. are your best bet for outdoor time. Many park facilities are lighted, and the afternoons typically bring brief showers that cool things down heading into evening.

STAY COOL INDOORS, WITH SOMETHING TO SHOW FOR IT

When the heat gets serious, Weston’s indoor options are full experiences.

Luxe Golf is Weston’s first high-tech indoor golf studio. Powered by TrackMan iO simulators, it lets you play over 300 courses worldwide with professional-grade technology that tracks club speed, ball flight, spin rate, and more (the same technology used by PGA Tour pros!). Sessions are available by the hour for individuals and groups of up to four, and you can order food in while you play. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer working on your swing or just looking for something fun to do with the family, it’s worth a visit.

Premier Martial Arts offers year-round programs for kids and adults that hit the sweet spot between fitness and focus. Classes include karate, kickboxing, self-defense, and krav maga, led by certified instructors trained in modern teaching techniques. Programs are available for a range of ages and skill levels, from young children to adults, and summer is a great time for kids to channel extra energy into something that builds confidence and discipline.

The Weston YMCA Family Center at Regional Park is another solid indoor option, with a full fitness facility, group exercise classes, a spin room, and an outdoor pool for those who want to cool off with actual swimming.

MAKE THE MOST OF THE SEASON

Summer in Weston has a rhythm all its own. The evenings are long, the parks are lit up, and the community doesn’t slow down just because it’s hot. Whether you’re exploring what local businesses have to offer or finding your new favorite shaded trail, the city has more options than you might expect.

Check the City of Weston’s Parks & Recreation calendar at westonfl.org for updated hours, field closures, and any summer programs through the community center. And don’t forget to sign up for ALERT Weston to receive notifications about park closures or weather-related advisories, especially during peak storm season.

Stay cool, Weston!
