Funding Arts Broward has a new leader. The nonprofit named Katiuska “Kat” Brigian Sierra as its Executive Director, moving her up from Director of Operations.

Sierra joined the group in 2019 as its first paid employee. Before that, volunteers ran Funding Arts Broward for more than 16 years. Sierra helped the organization grow into a professionally staffed arts charity while keeping its community spirit. She built the systems and plans that support its work today.

Sierra is a trained visual artist with degrees from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where she studied fine art photography. She has also completed leadership programs at Florida State University and Cornell University. Her career spans more than two decades in the arts, nonprofit leadership, and community work.

“Kat has been instrumental in Funding Arts Broward’s evolution since becoming our first employee in 2019,” said Denise St. Patrick Bell, Ph.D., President of Funding Arts Broward. “Her deep understanding of Broward’s cultural landscape, combined with her passion for supporting artists and arts organizations, makes her the ideal leader to guide FAB into its next chapter.”

As Executive Director, Sierra will work with the board on the group’s next phase. Her plans include supporting emerging arts groups and independent artists, building new partnerships, and helping Broward’s creative community thrive.

Funding Arts Broward started in 2003 thanks to artist and philanthropist Francie Bishop Good and 74 founding supporters. Since then it has awarded more than $6.5 million in grants for performing arts, visual arts, public art, arts education, and cultural programs across Broward County.
